The Impact Of Lies

The Impact Of Lies

Is there ever a good reason to tell a lie;
even though the truth is known?
Sometimes it’s embarrassment’s reply;
before a child is yet grown.

It’s purpose is obvious; to one and all;
any lie is an effort to deceive;
false pride causes lies, before the fall;
it’s an entangled web; we weave.

Often lies are told simply to gain favor;
in order to make a false impression;
many lies make us seem to be braver;
most, simply lie to avoid confession.

Lies, like the truth, are created in thought;
words; with the wind at their back;
lies usually replace, truths which are taught;
for telling them; some have a knack.

Often we lie to save someone’s feelings;
not realizing the impact they have;
like gluing back on; the onion’s peelings;
dishonesty must never be a salve.

Lies are always a discredit to our honor;
children of God must not lie;
acting like perfume from the embalmer;
our lies make the Master cry.

Sometimes the truth is hard to understand;
but, on one truth; all must rely;
we are required by the Master’s command;
God hates the tongues that lie.
