The House Of Pinocchio
A young kingdom formed its own government;
designed it, to be equitable and fair;
they conceived it to become a monument;
for other worlds; created everywhere.
The House of Commons: it was to be named;
only people; like themselves; should rule.
For a slight misjudgement none can be blamed;
who thought voters would elect a fool?
Not all those involved were noble and loyal;
many commoners became greedy and proud;
others claimed the title of a king or a royal;
leaving outsiders laughing outloud.
The outsiders demanded truth be their covenant;
corruption and liars could not be allowed;
instead it was a den of lies and bad government;
a permanent home for the arrogant and proud.
The house of government established its rules;
deeming violators would be punished or fined;
the worst liars had contempt for such fools;
and they ignored the rules or resigned.
Soon, government paid out; more than took in;
a burgeoning debt; continued to grow;
times were tight; and budgets became thin;
most, in this government, must go.
Corruption and lying came to be expected;
and the wheels of justice ground slow;
even the name was eventually rejected;
and renamed: The House of Pinocchio.
