The Greatest Love
Many a challenge, occurs in each life;
for which there’s no form of protection;
and, of all the various forms of strife;
I think I dread most, a rejection.
Words of love tendered to another;
whether by thoughts or deeds;
rejected; causing pressure to smother;
that love that everyone needs.
We usually think when we love someone;
that they will love us back;
their rejection, makes our love undone;
and results in a panic attack.
A quest for acceptance oft brings rejection;
for, acceptance is a form of love;
we sometimes lean on others for protection;
but protection is a gift from above.
Love is the gift; that first, is given;
in order to be received;
by its power, each of us is driven;
by faith, is it conceived.
In the beginning, God loved us first;
before we knew He existed;
in our loneliness, we gained its thirst;
because our Master persisted.
We think we know what love’s about;
because we become a husband or wife;
but the greatest love, without any doubt;
was given, by the One who gave life.
