The Ghost Of Yesterday
The Ghost Of Yesterday
I am the ghost of yesterday;
tomorrow can never be;
the future has arrived today;
and I am the future me.
I lament a tomorrow that never came;
its future was so pristene;
neither peace; nor success, bear my name;
all of it; merely a dream.
Yesterday was the season of dreams;
though dreams simply can’t last;
they are a shadowy mist of what seems;
a morning fog which has passed.
I am the leaf from the tree of life;
suffering in my Autumn years;
drifting in storms of endless strife;
navigating through my tears.
I was born from the seed of nobilities;
looking down from heaven above;
dreaming of all of life’s possibilities;
discovering someone to love.
Joined together in the river of life;
drawn into its tempestuous flow;
enduring together the endless strife;
only death compelled you to go.
I am the ghost of yesterday;
a mist of memories; sent to roam;
without you; I am empty today;
tomorrow is calling me home.
