The Flirt

He’s loving and kind; somewhat loquacious;
some even claim he talks too much;
when speaking to ladies, he becomes flirtatious;
false modesty becomes his crutch.

Many have noticed he becomes self-critical;
but that just adds to his appeal;
others have observed; he’s quietly analytical;
only saying what he wants to reveal;

In his younger years; he was quite ambitious;
the world; he viewed, as his oyster;
of the evil, surrounding; he became suspicious;
dwelling in his personal cloister.

Tho he worked hard; he suffered much;
his losses exceeded his gains;
bankruptcy replaced his Midas touch;
an old man, alone; he remains.

Although he’s now old; and lives all alone;
he still remains active and alert;
with no one to love; when he comes home;
he is now, just an elderly flirt.

He’s in his element; with others nearby;
tho unloved; no longer irrelevant;
he loves; making them laugh till they cry;
in humor he feels more eloquent.

He enjoys becoming, the flirtatious fool;
unloved and alone; he feels hurt;
still he remains, as stubborn as a mule;
I know; for I am that old flirt.
