The Eyes Of A Fool
The Eyes Of A Fool
In my old age, I’m just a man in love;
breaking every life rule;
destiny awaits me; in a kingdom above;
as seen thru eyes of a fool.
Teased by thoughts of lingering romance;
tho my body is breaking down;
I’m simply too old to give love a chance;
in the mirror; my eyes see a clown.
Deep within me; I’m still young at heart;
my mind’s eyes see a feminine jewel;
my thoughts and body are world’s apart;
while looking through eyes of a fool.
In reality; I know there’s not a chance;
there’s no future love, to be;
I’m too old for a passionate romance;
there’s no one left to love me.
There is nothing worse than an old fool;
at least that’s what they say;
the infirmities of age often are cruel;
all my loves died, yesterday.
Still I see love through the eyes of a fool;
looking into her eyes; I’m excited;
but her love is somebody else’s jewel;
so she is my love; unrequited.
I sadly stare blankly into a vacuum of space;
seeing her eyes, sparkle like a jewel;
totally mesmerized; I can still see her face;
as seen through the eyes of a fool.
