The Death Of Civility

The Death Of Civility

When I was young there existed civility;
where people tried to get along together;
in general there was peace and tranquility;
but now; it all seems gone, forever.

Life was good; people helped neighbors;
till corruption and greed flowed in;
poisons in life; come in many flavors;
and, in subtlty, came evil within.

Civility is a hallmark of any society;
loving all neighbors; the goal;
replaced, in time, by rampant impropriety
leading to the death of the soul.

Many claimed they were innocent victims;
reacting to what others did or said;
others refusing the Master’s dictums;
doing whatever they wished, instead.

People fighting; over the slightest issue;
ever ready and willing to take offense;
a marriage, ended; by tears in a tissue;
the partners lacking in common sense.

Many decide to take their own life;
not caring about who will be hurt;
unwilling to tolerate the pain and strife;
their answers lie in cemetary dirt.

If this life is not really your style;
much like a tight fitting sweater;
if you face adversity with a smile;
your next life may be much better.
