The Curse Of Success
The Curse Of Success
A warning is issued; those climbing the ladder;
that well known ladder to success;
though you may enjoy your wallet being fatter;
it could well lead to endless distress.
The climb is oft induced by hidden purpose;
for everything’s always done for a reason;
pride is the interloper, that’s poised to surface;
when success rears its head, out of season.
Success, without meaning, is devoid of a goal;
for, evil succeeds every day;
evil’s successes, are a curse to your soul;
a curse that’s destined to stay.
Success is not about conquering or achievement;
it’s all about learning to love;
but, climbing to the top, requires appeasement;
there’s only one Master, above.
Success is the original author of pride;
for that’s what success is about;
it’s the cancer that’s growing inside;
for evil, just loves to shout.
Pride is that cowlick that never behaves;
as one seeks to stand out in the crowd;
evil is most often, the success pride craves;
making evil, itself, quite proud.
Those who succeed, by their own merit;
remember, pride commeth before the fall;
ironically, it’s the meek who’ll inherit;
and become most successful, of all.
