The Coward

The   Coward

I look to tomorrow,
as a great source of pain;
bringing mountains of sorrow;
and oceans of disdain.

Struggles often make me
so totally overpowered;
the challenges that be;
make me feel a coward.

Stress is an emotion;
hidden deep inside;
vacating devotion;
seeking places to hide.

I’m apprehensive, uneasy;
petrified with fright;
nervous, timid, and queasy;
like the day, become night.

Circumstance draws near;
I’m like most any other;
for, doubt and fear;
are my sister and brother.

No coward fears death;
for it’s the end of strife;
but with his last breath;
the coward fears life.
