The Color Of Envy

Why is it we associate colors with mood;
like, when sad, we’re feeling blue?
Green is considered the color of envy;
and it’s green that many imbue.

Why is it that we want what others have;
no matter, what it may be;
is gaining it from them, the healing salve;
that promises to set us free?

Envy is the prison, in which most live;
its walls of energy hold us within;
most desire to take more than we give;
from where did this evil begin.

Envy is the very antithesis of love;
its spoilage, its leftover residue;
all the gifts from the Master above,
you think should belong to you.

Envy is the green plant that grows;
without any seed being planted;
simply of its own accord, it chose;
and, by itself, life was granted.

When full grown, its fruit is hate;
chocking all love in the garden;
alienation from others; envy’s fate;
requiring that God grant a pardon.

Evil planted this most toxic fruit;
fed by the waters of greed;
salvation made all envy be moot;
by truth, all had been freed.
