The Best Things In Life
The best things in life are free;
or so it’s often been related;
tho not all of us would agree,
it’s a topic often debated.
Many think it’s going on vacations;
others believe; a baby carried;
some love luxury accomodations;
still others long to get married.
As for me; who am I to critique;
aware, life’s not as it seems;
perhaps I’ve become more unique;
the best things in life are dreams.
After all; a dream is my own creation;
I Am, at its nexus; its core;
its outcome depends upon my imagination;
its my thoughts; ones I live for.
I dream of a new dawn; and a raging sea;
admirers and friends; by the score;
I often dream of things that can never be;
and, most of all, the one I adore.
Only in my dreams lives my special love;
a beautiful woman; who also loves me;
a marriage, sanctioned in heaven above;
a dream never meant to be.
Dreams of love are what we all live for;
in our thoughts; we’re due a break;
dreaming we’re in the arms of one we adore;
then, suddenly, we awake.
