The Best Teacher
The Best Teacher
Many seek out books in order to learn;
for there is knowledge, within;
but much about its author, you can’t discern;
you can’t even know where to begin.
Is the book’s author telling the truth;
or even know what he’s talking about;
do the words he’s written, yield proof;
and, how would we ever find out?
Reality is defined by both truth and lies;
how can we tell which is which;
the truth is honest, and without disguise;
but, lies can land you in a ditch.
The deeper wisdom is, to God, confined;
a gentle breeze that circles His throne;
to share it, one must be closely aligned;
Truth and Wisdom are for God to own.
Tho all bask is the Wisdom of God’s Light;
very few are ever permitted to share it;
God has the power to turn day into night;
and no man has the strength to bear it.
Experience is the only way that we learn;
not the myriad of books on the shelf;
only by our mistakes can we discern;
or the mistakes of somebody else.
Time discloses truth’s best feature;
it was here before time had begun;
experience is not the best teacher;
it is the only one.
