I recall watching football, on tv with dad;
more than half a century ago;
memories of such times, make me sad;
of games played in wind and snow.

there were far too many to remember;

a phrase most often misunderstood;

we slowly lose our grip on reality;

The world has been vanquished by lust and desire;
the simplicity of love; no longer in taste;
greed and pride have become the new empire;
allowing all manner or form of disgrace.

Truth, long ago, has vacated earth’s throne;
replaced by narratives of complicity;

Is there somehow an appropriate age;
where man and woman can love?
I’ve been seeking an all-knowing sage;
from the heavenly realm above.

we no longer even seek proof;
it should be clear; life’s a duality;
tho few of us know the truth.

Our lives consist of times and places;
tho in heaven; neither exist;
focused only on bodies

Only a few wear pride with each step;
the rest of us languish in guilt;
prodigals of life don’t seem too adept;
they’re the first flowers to wilt.

Guilt is the garment; most of us wear;
from our life’s very beginning;
we were prodigals;
