Surviving Yesterday
Surviving Yesterday
Life has become a day to day reality;
to be lived one step at a time;
keenly aware of death’s finality;
a transition most sublime.
Life is but a vapor; coming and going;
earth is one stop on its way;
wherever it goes; it keeps on growing;
love has something to say.
Life is the wind and waves of change;
even solid rocks become past;
illusions of the truth shall rearrange;
nothing of yesterday will last.
Everything is built upon sinking sand;
to be washed out to sea, by waves;
most, now alive, cannot understand;
time puts us all in our graves.
We awaken from yesterday; still alive;
to face another new dawn;
thankful we’ve managed to still survive;
revealing that life still goes on.
We’d managed to survive yesterday;
as we’d done many times before;
destined to be here for another today;
and expecting limitless days more.
In birth, life became from the womb;
to live on the earth, day to day;
in death, life shall arise from the tomb;
surviving yesterday.
