Staring At Reality's Face

Staring At Reality’s Face

I respectfully stared out on the horizon;
thinking about two centuries ago;
upon a land once covered with bison;
slaughtered; with no place to go.

I glanced at some woodlands nearby;
spotting a robin’s nest in a tree;
watching an eagle, take wing and fly;
pictures of what it’s like to be free.

All of these sights were merely illusions;
metaphors of thoughts in mind space;
all these energies; brought to conclusion;
my mind was staring at reality’s face.

In another direction, was a shopping center;
it’s parking lot was covered with snow;
my mind had retreated to a time last winter;
reality from above; was an image below.

Reality is another name for consciousness;
creating whatever we hear, say, and feel;
wisdom and truth make up righteousness;
and the face of reality is surreal.

I’ve always depended upon the Master’s grace;
his smile; is passion’s fire, blazing above;
and, even though I have yet to see God’s face;
I can feel God’s energy of love.

Although I looked over the landscape above;
filled with guilt, shame, and disgrace;
my heart was overcome by the power of love;
while just staring at reality’s face.
