Someone To Love

I used to tend to think only of me;
leaving others to think it’s pride;
but, me is the only one, I can be;
my life is buried, inside.

What ever makes us focus on another;
how is it, they gain our attention;
what makes us a match, for a lover;
was it ordained; in another dimension ?

Often our attentions are born of lust;
focusing only on what we see;
on first impressions; we cannot trust;
not all are what they seem to be.

That lonely face, that I see in the mirror;
a billboard, bearing my name;
what, within me, makes love disappear;
is there no love I could claim?

Perhaps my focus should be on the other;
displaying to her that I really care;
a wise man becomes a friend, before lover;
friends always have love to share.

Over the years, I’ve dramatically changed;
I have learned to place others first;
all my priorities have been rearranged;
yet, for love, I still thirst.

I no longer have any trouble finding love;
it’s all around; as far as the eye can see;
it’s energies radiate from heaven, above;
somewhere there’s someone who even loves me.
