Serving Two Masters
I’m living in two worlds; at the same time;
this physical place is a world of disasters;
while the upper kingdom; is thought, sublime;
they are ruled, by two different masters.
My physical self, is getting on in years;
a kingdom of thought knows no ages.
Physicality brings much sorrow and tears;
as life’s book, keeps turning its pages.
On earth I’m required to bestow my allegience;
to its masters of lies and decay;
for it is the kingdom of political expedience;
to live here; I must obey.
In thoughts, I belong in a much higher realm;
totally separated from this world, below;
the kingdom of truth; with God at the helm;
where only love is destined to grow.
During this brief season of physicality;
my allegience has become divided;
death will take me to a world of reality;
and my true allegience, decided.
No one can live; while serving two masters;
a myriad of discrepancies; it brings.
a truth spoken by philosophers and pastors;
it’s obvious there can’t be two kings.
It must be apparent that all must choose;
between two worlds; so far apart;
those who hate, have so little to lose;
if you love; follow your heart.
