Retribution

Some people we meet, are easy to love;
while others, are easier to hate;
nevertheless; we have orders, from above;
we’re expected to learn to relate.

We’re only human; mistakes are expected;
in this kingdom, for as long as we live;
from the wages of sin; we all are protected;
as long as, all others; we forgive.

Our arrogance and pride, stand in the way;
how can we possibly ever forgive;
those evil acts, in my thoughts always stay;
making life impossible to live.

“Getting even” is the great illusion, at best;
none are ever able to balance the scale;
learning to forgive is life’s impossible test;
like catching a tiger, by the tail.

All pain we’re caused, results in confusion;;
God removes it, when we return above;
nothing’s ever made better by retribution;
God exchanges all bad memories; for love.

How can we forgive; those acts most egregious;
causing pain, or death, to those we love;
or acts which make their offender prestigious;
only the Master can judge, from above.

Only God can decide where life’s meant to go;
judgement was never to become our role;
retribution merely adds current, to evil’s flow;
forgiveness elevates the soul.
