Reflections On Time
Reflections On Time
I’ve been told to live life in the present;
the past is no longer to be;
although; right now, it is pleasant;
I search for a future to see.
But the future, itself, is most austere;
although I’m still able to dream;
it leads to more uncertainty and fear;
tho it can increase self esteem.
What is it about time, that we fear;
is our future beyond our control?
Even today; that future draws near;
with every step of our soul.
We seek all the trinkets, life is about;
as tho they are treasures of gold;
our lives; bathed in worries and doubt;
for we know we are growing old.
Most of us search for permanent treasures;
not all that junk, gathering rust;
tho some only long for life’s pleasures;
expecting soon to be dust.
Nearly everyone longs for more time;
our hourglass soon will run out;
but, as time fades; reality is sublime;
increasing our worries and doubt.
Time may define all chronologies;
the future’s not ours to see;
time will also replace anthologies;
whatever will be; will be.
