Promises Of Fidelity

Promises are just contracts, unwritten;
lacking the weight of the law;
promises declaring what is forbidden;
last about as long as coleslaw.

Fidelity has become a mere opinion;
originally its role, unbendable;
defined by the one who has dominion;
enforcement becomes undependable.

What is fidelity; but faithfulness;
that, what we say is true;
it’s a curious form of righteousness;
doing what we promised to do.

Fidelity relies on an absolute truth;
tho so many people deny;
written promises provide proof;
on honesty; few will rely.

Promises are simply a means to an end;
a manner of getting our way;
people, who in the Master, depend;
make promises every day.

When we promise; we ought to consider;
each and every scenario;
everyone, honorable, plans to deliver;
but, a few are just so so.

Promises were never made to be broken;
they are sacred; not a facade;
those who consider them merely token;
have wounded the heart of God.
