Pride Begets Fools

I wish I could revisit all of my past;
correcting all my mistakes;
then, would my peace of mind last;
and pride put on its brakes.

But, my physical past is out of bounds;
I may only find it; in my mind;
my guilt still pursues me like hounds;
for that’s how guilt is designed.

Why is the physical so out of control;
I think; so therefore I am;
truth is buried within the soul;
I know; so therefore I can.

I always try to positively reinforce;
from where does the negative come;
positive, by itself, can’t lead to divorce;
what causes marriages to succumb?

Why do many seek to put others down;
do they believe they are much better;
how may I refer to another as a clown;
while wearing my ugly sweater?

Only by eyes and ears, can we tell;
the mote in the eye of another;
must we cause their life to be hell;
do we not love our brother?

In heaven; eyes and ears don’t exist;
only thoughts make all the rules;
where truth and love always persist;
on earth; pride begets fools.
