Pride’s Destiny
I’ve lived many lifetimes, all rolled into one;
as I’m nearing my destiny’s shore;
I’ll even live more; before this one is done;
tho it seems I’ve been here, before.
I’ve lived in happiness; and swam in despair;
embarassed by laughter till I cried;
worried over thoughts of what I should wear;
to the funeral of a loved one who died.
I’ve basked in the sunshine of life’s magnificence;
ran from ghosts and goblins, as a child;
now, I’m struggling to demonstrate my significance;
in an upside down world; gone wild.
So many things, in this lifetime, have changed;
civilizations have risen; and then fell;
love has become, for money, exchanged;
as this beautiful world, becomes hell.
What has become of God’s great creation;
has it been tarnished by lust and desire;
God paid the price; granting us salvation;
will this earth be destroyed by fire?
Heaven and earth shall all pass away;
at least, so the Scriptures tell;
both shall be made new; on that day;
while evil inherits hell.
Blessed are those who bow at God’s feet;
in the essence of time; pride must die;
a new earth shall be inherited by the meek;
God loves the soul; who knows to cry.
