Present Is Past

Present Is Past

All of the present is really the past;
time is just an innocent bystander;
nothing said or done will last;
history is only a book; a pretender.

We think it all will last a long while;
that ogre called time knows otherwise;
he watches a sunset, with a smile;
not even bothering, himself, to disguise.

Time knows he’s completely irrelevant;
for he will be gone, all too soon;
for he was that storied “white elephant”
who has suddenly left the room.

Why even have that illusion called Time;
we’ll just ring a bell for the start of school;
for that is his only purpose and design;
does Time think we’re each just a fool?

Actually, time’s illusion works quite well;
like busy bees, buzzing; we never stop;
throughout a lifetime, most never tell;
that life is a school with a clock.

We pile up our prizes; accumulate money;
never, do we realize our ultimate role;
like the busy bees, storing their honey;
we’re storing up Love for our soul.

When my time expires, I’ll return above;
knowing there’s much more to discern;
and, after revisiting the kingdom of Love;
I’ll come back; for there’s so much to learn.
