Power Struggle

Wise is the man who knows his limitations;
but, foolish when they get in his way;
never living up to people’s expectations;
such a leader is sure to betray.

Those who seek power are the least deserving;
for, they hunger and lust for a throne;
in a very short time; they become self-serving;
thinking, only of themselves, alone.

Many live a lifetime, at the public trough;
making promises, they never will keep;
tho many are derisive and prone to scoff;
their public “servant” loses no sleep.

No man; born of woman, is fit to be king;
pride and greed will always overtake;
ultimate power; means he’ll do anything;
even his birth was a mistake.

Still, man usually selects prodigals to rule;
thinking we should give them a try;
trusting prodigals, is the errand of a fool;
causing free speech to die.

Those who trust God; believe we must love;
while others fight over an empty throne;
the Master looks down from heaven, above;
saying, “Leave my people alone.”

The continuing conflict is the great tribulation;
the eternal conflict of evil against good;
God’s ultimate victory will bring a celebration;
bringing forth peace and brotherhood.

Many are full of love; others are haters;
a great many more; don’t have a clue;
the world is filled with givers and takers;
pray tell; which one are you?
