Power Hungry

Some hunger for righteousness;
as kind and gentle as a flower;
tho others embody spitefulness;
while only longing for power.

We were given freedom; meant to love;
and never intentionally causing duress;
given power and Wisdom from above;
not ever designed that tyrants oppress.

Some seem born of the serpent’s seed;
his lack of virtue, they seem to extol;
whatever the cause of their evil need;
they covet power over another soul.

A leader filled with a hunger for power;
often has starving people to feed.
Often a tyrant confiscates, to devour,
leaving little to fill people’s need.

Their hunger for power has no bounds;
virtually nothing’s beyond their reach;
most decisions, lack proper grounds;
and their trust, to God’s people, breach.

Power requires Wisdom; it’s bearer bring;
those seeking more, each time they pivot,
are seldom fit to be crowned as the king
and lack Wisdom, needed to go with it.

Most power hungry tyrants signal intention;
issuing edicts, their control to procure;
usually discouraging any form of dissention;
their undeserved crown to secure.
