Plausible Deniability
Throughout history we’re taught honesty;
only the dishonorable and weak tell lies;
it’s a topic of many a sermon or homily;
and those skirting truth, are despised.
Truth used to be easy enough to determine;
but, more and more, people live by lies;
those who outright lie are considered vermin;
so, most, simply keep their lies in disguise.
Techniques and words are today’s disguise;
sophistry is illogic, replacing deception;
used by many fools, appearing to be wise;
and, have been, since time’s inception.
Some seem able to manufacture a truth;
for lying is simply a natural ability:
looking into your eyes, acting aloof;
they seem to gain deniable plausability.
Lies are the kinks in nobility’s armor;
the dams in the river of life;
often they’re the words of a charmer;
coming between husband and wife.
Lies are the serpents sent from above;
teaching all to believe the illogical;
sent forth to divide and poison love;
lies always encourage the prodigal.
Truth always requires much discernment;
pride usually comes before the fall;
be certain to remember, before interment;
no lies are really plausible at all.
