One Step From Eternity

In depression; I looked upon a world, below;
tempted to leave life’s fraternity;
in my thoughts; I had no other place to go;
poised, one step from eternity.

Life, for me, had lost all of its appeal;
all futures seemed dank and dark;
the world around me, seemed surreal;
reality seemed a hungry shark.

All of my dreams were hopelessly shattered;
I wondered what would become of me;
for I’d lost almost everything that mattered;
my mind, left swimming, in an angry sea.

Most of us experience similar thought;
regarding what our futures might be;
regardless of all that reality has brought;
all are one step from eternity.

We try to imagine that things will get better;
once we adhere to God’s command;
but the angry sea seems to go on forever;
when will we reach dry land.

We are all born, with a sense of destiny;
circumstance; we cannot control;
the thoughts of our mind, cannot see;
the destiny of our soul.

In faith, I now bow to the Master, above;
accepting what His will is for me;
knowing that we’re the object of God’s love;
we’re all just one step from eternity.
