On My Mind
Tho your thoughts be far from me;
my thoughts remain of you;
in loneliness; dwells mediocrity;
only love can make me new.
Although, I feel love for you;
I know you don’t love me;
unrequited love is a toxic brew;
yet; it is my destiny.
I’ve become winter winds blowing;
one of Autumn’s leaves falling;
I’ve endured seasons of growing;
far away; I hear God calling.
Yet; I long for another yesterday;
today is no longer sufficient;
knowing it, can’t come my way;
destiny is omniscient.
How can my mind dwell in youth;
while my body grows so old;
destiny demands I see the truth;
even when loves grow cold.
Wisdom commands I see the truth;
tho it often makes me cry;
yet love’s demands remain aloof;
my passions will never die.
Oh precious love; I want you to know;
tho our love was not designed;
in spite of it all; I still love you so;
you will always be on my mind.
