Never Too Old
I am never too old to tell the truth;
truth has no age limitation;
never too old to visit a church;
make friends with a new congregation.
I am never too old to tear up and cry;
for tears have great cleansing power;
I am never too old to be kissed goodbye;
even when I’ll be gone but an hour
I am never too old for a tender touch;
for touch transmits love to another;
a loving embrace is never a crutch;
whether given to a sister or brother.
I am never too old to court romance;
for ecstasy has no restrictions;
I am never too old to enjoy a dance;
for all dance has romantic addictions.
I am never too old to forgive a friend;
whether it be one close or far away;
nor will I hesitate to defend;
an enemy now, can be a friend someday.
I am never too old to mend any fence;
for all barriers must be broken down;
there is always a time for recompense;
forgiveness makes the best nightgown.
I am never too old to say I’m sorry;
for there is no better salve than contrition;
especially when uttered on a night so starry;
to improve relations and the human condition.
I am never too old to forget the past;
for much past doesn’t deserve remembrance;
and forge new friendships designed to last;
for new friends have lover’s resemblance.
