Modern Mythology

Truth was once taught by word of mouth;
until newspapers scattered opinion;
then, much of what’s truth; went south;
as newspapers gained dominion.

This so-called news was a form of gossip;
spoken across the backyard fence;
converted by television into massive profit;
all claims to acuracy; merely pretense.

When truth is defined by those in power;
reality becomes merely opinion;
seeds of lies; gain roots; then flower;
as evil gains dominion.

Myths are defined by those in control;
as they seize all communication;
the most outrageous assertions they extol;
and real truth suffers deprivation.

Televison became the source of information;
proclaiming what none could conceive;
all saying the same; giving their conformation;
until, nearly all, came to believe.

Narratives are the name given to the lies;
that only fools could believe;
false kings say; “Don’t believe your eyes”
causing the Master to grieve.

False kings and despots have gained control;
soon, the earth will be under their rule;
they don’t believe in God or an eternal soul;
follow them; and you’ll be their fool.
