Metaphors Of Life

Metaphors are reality; pictures of thought;
one thought corresponding to another;
from an upper world to a lower one brought;
the illusion becomes thought’s brother.

A living example of each life is the rose;
it’s planted; blossoms; then dies;
basking in the sunshine; it steadily grows;
its magnificent beauty, defies.

The caterpillar, like a baby; learns to crawl;
the metaphor of death, it defies;
a coccoon is the womb; that conquers it all;
the butterfly is a baby that flies..

The turtle is the life; living in its shell;
carrying his house where it may roam;
when body is crushed; a turtle can’t tell;
all energy is created to return home.

The oyster serves as the Master’s showcase;
within it, is planted a grain of sand;
from a fragment of dust doomed by disgrace;
comes the pearl of great price: man.

The rose is the most appropriate illusion;
the conscience, within, is a thorn;
all beauty must die in life’s conclusion;
for, all love must be reborn.

Life comes and goes; creating its story;
on the Master of life; all may depend.
Beauty ebbs and flows displaying God’s glory;
death is only a transition; not the end.
