Loves Unrequited
Loves Unrequited
As my body ages; my thoughts grow young;
I feel love’s passions stirring;
hopelessly in love; I’ve recently become;
my passionate thoughts recurring.
I remember that very first time,
I first looked into her eyes;
I felt the energy of love, sublime;
much to my great surprise.
It wasn’t just a crush; like when I was young;
it was more a matter of recognition;
a time, from the past, when we had been one;
our love was a chronic condition.
Feeling love, from within, I became excited;
though now we’re generations apart;
now; an old man; my love is unrequited;
tho I still hear the beat of her heart.
To her; I’ve become like a father or brother;
a love we once shared is past history;
she’s young, and her heart belongs to another;
past lives fade away; in mystery.
Although I could still see love in her eyes;
I was too old to become her lover;
forcing me to keep my love a disguise;
her passions belonged to another;
Who knows all of our past life mystery;
the passions that love excited;
now, alone, all my loves are just history;
they’re now just loves, unrequited.
