Love Those Who Hate
Love Those Who Hate
God commanded that we love our neighbors;
it was an order; not a request;
he wasn’t suggesting or seeking favors;
it was a pass-fail test.
Man answered; the Master, by asking a question:
who might our neighbors be?
God must have winced; at such a suggestion;
saying; “All, for as far as the eye can see!”
Must man always look for the easy way out;
he knew, in an instant; God’s goal;
everyone knows what God’s love is about;
all were created to love every soul.
Only fools would ask God, how much he cares;
like: “Who deserves your love and devotion?”
With a question of His own the Master declares:
“My child; how deep is the ocean?
And yet, many of us make our own list;
of all of those we think we must love;
the rumblings of thunder; from heaven persist;
and raindrops of tears; fall from above.
Love those who hate; is the Master’s appeal;
for who needs love, more than they;
only your love can diminish hate’s zeal;
and make brand new; a soul in decay.
Love those who hate; only makes sense;
for only love bonds all life together;
love is the energy behind recompense;
and only love shall live forever.
