I looked all around and considered;
all of the things money can bring;
the furniture that had been delivered;
but money can’t buy everything.

Once I had bought it; I owned it;
that much was apparent to me;
its not as though I’ve condoned it;
but nothing in life is for free.

Yet what is money really worth;
we think it can buy us everything;
taught by example from birth;
we think there’s nothing it can’t bring.

There’s actually nothing money can buy;
you can only gain a short term title;
its passed on to someone as soon as you die;
even if your family’s quite tribal.

And that someone too, will soon surrender;
all those goods he has gotten from you;
and whether he be a buyer or a lender;
he’ll lose it all when he dies too.

The same rule applies to all that we own;
from the simplest on to the grandest;
all jewelry, bonds, cash and your home;
though some have tried their damndest.

When I lost my wife; she lost all control;
there’s nothing in life that you own;
You leave with nothing except your soul;
everything else is merely on loan.
