Know-It-All

Some seem to be extraordinarily wise;
knowing answers to every question;
within them; there’s little compromise;
they’re adverse to every suggestion.

Their answers come without hesitation;
most from another media;
each in search of praise and adulation;
a walking, talking encyclopedia.

Disdainfully, we dub them a “know-it-all”
partly due to our own embarrassment;
we’d like to engage them in a “free-for-all”
in response to constant harassment.

Privately; many are jealous of them;
some even try to compete;
only a small few are able to win;
the rest go down to defeat.

For the know-it- alls; know their place;
they know when it’s time to leave;
only a few of them, understand grace;
others; fail to believe.

Wisdom is knowing what little you know;
willingly expressing your doubt;
failures are experience; helping you grow;
time will help us find out.

Wisdom is having the common touch
all are servants of the king;
he, who already knows too much;
cannot be taught anything,
