Just Kidding
Just Kidding!
Interesting; the games people like to play;
often because they think they’re so smart;
playing their mind games; day after day;
revealing a lack of love in their heart.
They say something; they know isn’t true;
seeking followers to do their bidding;
until they’re called to account for their view;
confronted; they say: “Just kidding!”
Then they laugh; as tho they were joking;
anticipating, we’ll smile back;
instead; it’s our anger; they are provoking;
knowing it’s a subtle attack.
Such conversation is fencing of the mind;
with an occasional parry and thrust;
foolishness leaving a friendship behind;
destroying any semblance of trust.
If this exchange happens more than once;
the friendship has become a battle;
one becomes a victim; the other a dunce;
who loves to saber rattle.
Many are those who do battle with words;
thinking that words never harm;
surely it’s better than dualing with swords;
where someone might lose an arm.
He, who plays games, is seeking control;
only a fool follows his bidding;
perhaps he’s the devil after my soul;
by the way; I’m just kidding!
