In Vain

In Vain

Each life, that is lived, must have purpose;
to be considered worthy of God’s name.
All were created, out of love; for service;
none were meant to be lived in vain.

Before that purpose; we were meant to be;
there was much we had to discover;
our vision was so limited; we couldn’t see;
our true purpose remained under cover.

Life is a long journey; filled with mystery;
with detours, along the way;
our checkered past; became our history;
and remains so; till this day.

How could life’s prodigals expect to survive;
could such; ever bear God’s name;
carrying such guilt; we’re barely alive;
are we all destined to die in vain?

Everyone who lives; becomes the fool;
often, living life, day-to-day;
this earth has become a living cesspool;
failure is a part of our resume.

The vicissitudes of life, force us to change;
all changes must begin, within;
the truth is often mysterious and strange;
we must start all over, again.

Each life, that is lived, must have purpose;
to be considered worthy of God’s name.
All were created, out of love; for service;
none were meant to be lived in vain.
