In The Know

Many seek to become all knowing;
information, itself, is king;
gossip enables us to to keep on going;
we’d rather be heard; than seen.

What sins have the rich and famous done;
especially those sins we abhor;
we’d love to be able to list each one;
most of us love keeping score.

Usually we judge those out and about;
failing to consider what lies within;
to the rooftops, we’re willing to shout;
disregarding our propensity to sin.

We always know what’s going on;
our gossiping is beyond absurd;
when one of our neighbors is wrong;
we dare not miss even a word.

Although most of us really know better;
you’d never know it by how we walk;
guilt has become our tight-fitting sweater;
most haven’t learned to walk their talk.

How can we talk, bearing such guilt;
judging how others behave;
we are the flowers who willingly wilt;
eventually cast in the grave.

We often claimed we acted in ignorance;
while watching our own guilt grow;
defiling our own created magnificance;
while we were the ones in the know.
