If Only I’d Known
If only I’d known; what I’ve since learned;
I would have made different choices;
I likely would have earned; more than I earned;
and listened to a few different voices.
Yet; if I’d known; what I’ve since learned;
what reason would have brought me here;
how could I learn; what was already discerned;
if I knew there wasn’t any reason to fear?
We live in this kingdom to laugh and cry;
learning to understand what life is about;
first we must live; then we must die;
taught about life from inside out.
The Master is a most magnificent professor;
but his teaching went over our head;
requiring that he become a Father confesser;
since we only learn once we’re dead.
If man had known; what we’ve come to know;
would he have eaten forbidden fruit;
man knew the truth; but, didn’t believe it was so;
making knowledge, itself, become moot.
Who are we to determine what’s best;
why do we always lust for control?
Life is about learning; not really a test;
it teaches love to the soul.
Why do we hurt so many; on our path;
can’t we at least, control the weather;
to even consider it; makes God laugh;
for the Master always knows better.
