If I’d Choose To Love

If I’d choose to love; each day that I live;
ignoring all temptations to hate;
if I only had the power to always forgive;
and to all my enemies, relate.

If my thoughts were only permitted to love;
and evil remained beyond my sight;
I would share the wisdom with God, above;
together; basking in his light.

If I only understood God’s holy decree;
loving everyone as my neighbor;
my mind would see; what God can see;
love is far greater than the saber.

If Only I could take someone else’s place;
experiencing their pain and sorrow;
I would then see the pain in God’s face;
and plant seeds of love for tomorrow.

If I could just live in the eye of life’s storm;
in the midst of turbulent seas;
the love of the Master; keeping me warm;
lovingly putting me at ease.

What is it Lord; that I fail to understand;
what truth do I fail to see;
love is the heart of your every command;
in effect; it’s all up to me.

Oh, how easy everything would become;
living life, on the wings of a dove
Universally, consciousness would all be one;
If only I’d choose to love.
