At times when I’m lonely; wanting to cry;
virtually at the limit of what I can stand;
God most obligingly sends someone by;
someone, metaphorically, to hold my hand.

Not much is required to bring me down;
emotions, quite fragile, when alone;
sadness often can cause us to drown;
due to emptiness within our home.

Many feel helpless, seeing one sad;
never knowing quite what to say;
but the knowledge that another feels bad
will lead to a better new day.

But sadness is like an ocean’s wave;
there’s an ebb and flow coming there;
it goes back out just in time to save;
and returns bringing new despair.

Someone who cares is worth everything;
two hearts are stronger than one;
and the energy personal contact brings;
helps make sadness undone.

Love is a great blanket, covering all;
giving warmth, and a safe place to stay.
But, very often, that blanket’s too small;
and lacks warmth, to keep cold away.

Fortunately, emotions can turn around;
sending energy on the wings of a dove;
from the unlikeliest stranger, ever found;
comes God’s energy; and I feel love.
