"I Choose Life"
The woman stood in a terrible place;
she was carrying her rapist’s child;
filled with anger, hurt, and disgrace;
to be a mother for one so reviled.
The baby inside her was a little girl;
whose father was a rapist and worse;
the woman’s mind was in a whirl;
how could she possibly bear this curse.
Another woman in a similar state;
for her baby would be retarded;
to such a child, how could she relate;
her baby boy would need be discarded.
Both women faced a daunting decision;
each a Queen, choosing life or death;
decision made; there’d be no revision;
and life would take it’s last breath.
There was also a King with a similar choice;
His first creation was also afflicted;
and the King knew He must give His voice;
would the creation of life be convicted?
For the created one was in open rejection;
what kind of life would be led;
though this child could get His protection;
perhaps he would be better off dead.
None of them suffered from any delusion;
a great part of their life would be dead;
and each of them reached the same conclusion;
“I choose life,” each of them said.
