Hidden Treasures
We’ve blessings, we’ve yet to discover;
hidden very carefully; deeply within;
dimminished capacity; unable to uncover;
we don’t even know, where to begin.
Sometimes they’re hiding in plain sight;
we still don’t know that they’re there;
we, who seldom know wrong from right;
cannot differentiate hate from care.
We who claim that we hunger and thirst;
that righteousness is our top goal;
have never learned to put others first;
that service is our life’s role.
We have blessings stacked very high;
filling our plate with its treasures;
from time to time; we can rely;
others are blessed by these measures.
We all consider sisters and brothers;
And yet, very few of us ever will see;
the greatest blessing is for others;
and not engineered just for me.
Blessings aren’t really material;
they’re energies pent up inside;
very often they are ethereal;
and discover places to hide.
Blessings are never material wealth;
such things would tend to smother;
inwardly hiding, they come in stealth;
they’re our power to lift up another.
