What is the difference between love and care?
They’re somewhat different inside;
many think they’ll find love anywhere;
care usually runs to hide.
Both care and love tend to be selfish;
we want to receive more than we give;
and yet, such thinking is foolish;
for it’s not the way we should live.
For great power exists in giving;
far better to give than receive.
And that’s the true secret to living;
tho it seems impossible to believe.
Sometimes we give for the wrong reason;
we want to be loved for our generosity;
but giving that’s done out of season;
is more likely to appear pomposity.
Often it appears a trumpet should sound;
whenever there’s somthing gifted;
but true giving occurs when no one’s around;
so it doesn’t seem a pocket’s been lifted.
Care is the secret to true giving;
thinking more of others than self;
an incredible way to be living;
truly sharing your love and wealth.
For when we are ostentatious;
our arrogance, for all to see;
we openly appear quite audacious;
and the receiver of my gift is me.
