Escaping Destiny

Every life was created for a specific reason;
none are created by chance;
each, destined for its own special season;
destiny is circumstance.

Many believe they’re products of a destiny;
their life isn’t lived by chance;
thinking there’s something that’s meant to be;
no life is pure happenstance.

Walking in one’s footsteps; is not a choice;
seeking to carve out a path; on their own;
reluctant to search out the Master’s voice;
marking time; waiting to come home.

They profess to see clearly, in their mind’s eye;
what they were destined to become;
thoughts of such a destiny; makes them cry;
they view that destiny humdrum.

They willingly go in the opposite direction;
knowing that we’re given free choice;
deciding to make their own course correction;
ignoring their Master’s voice.

Destiny wasn’t meant to be etched in stone;
but, those escaping it, pay a high price;
whenver we choose to go out on our own;
we’re rejecting the Master’s advice.

All have been given a special clemency;
none are meant to be alone;
to all those thinking of escaping destiny;
only God knows the way home.
