Dreams Of Fame
Everyone born, charts their own course;
some lead to success; others, shame;
more than a few of them, end in divorce;
fueled, by their dreams of fame.
We often pattern our lives after others;
especially, those famous and rich;
fame or money; both attract lovers;
it doesn’t really matter which.
The influence of fame is most seductive;
it carries a universal appeal;
both fame and fortune; become obstructive;
making life, become surreal.
Many have several dreams of success;
whether, awake, or asleep;
achieving fame, is like playing chess;
reaping; what others ought reap.
The neighbor’s grass is always greener;
no matter; whatever we do;
the neighbor’s car, always looks cleaner;
even when ours is brand new.
Fame is found at the mountain’s peak;
clearly, we’ve managed to grow;
just when we think we’ve become unique;
death is the valley, below;
Our dreams of fame, often die soon;
frequently ending in trouble;
they’re much like a hot air balloon;
something bursts their bubble.
