Dreaming Of Love

My life is filled with sadness and sorrow;
I only find respite for a while;
I dream I’ll find a new love, tomorrow;
a thought that makes me smile.

I dream of the passions; I treasure and miss;
longing for someone to love;
excited at the thought of a passionate kiss;
I look to the heavens above.

I’ve already spent my seasons of love;
now, I’m simply old and alone;
I ought to simply thank God, above;
and wait to return to his home.

Though my body is now diminished;
thoughts of love still remain;
I’ve much to write; before I’m finished;
dreams of love; keep me sane.

All of my loves are now unrequited;
I dream of them; night and day;
thoughts of love; keep me excited;
but, no longer am I love’s prey.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder;
I dream of her constantly;
and yet; as my body grows older;
she no longer has eyes for me.

Every night; I can see my love there;
a vision, only thoughts can create;
a woman of dreams; an answer to prayer;
then, suddenly; I am awake!
