Don't Cry For Yesterday

Don’t Cry For Yesterday

Make sure you don’t cry for yesterday;
all those tears should already be dry;
save your tears, for only today;
for yesterday’s already passed by.

Things happened; I’d like to forget;
forever, staining my past;
so much, in my life, that I regret;
out of my memory, they’re cast.

Yesterday still gets more than its share;
considering it’s a waste of time;
Yesterday, needs to come up for air;
our priorities must finally align.

Today is the day for laughter and tears;
we’re not really meant to reserve them;
yesterday’s energy’s been gone for years;
our heart no longer deserves them.

The book of life must be lived in chapters;
always taking it, one day at a time;
today is the day for both tears and laughter;
and it’s today with which energies align.

You don’t see anyone crying about tomorrow;
or laughing out loud over next year’s joke;
we can’t pre-arrange our future sorrow;
or begin recovery from next year’s stroke.

Today is the day; there is no other;
yesterday’s gone; and tomorrow we die;
we can’t shed tears for a sister or brother;
for, today isn’t our day to cry.
