Distracted Walking
Our mind is always paying attention;
even when it seems distracted;
our thoughts reach another dimension;
with conscious awareness redacted.
It really doesn’t take much to turn our ear;
and present reality to pass away;
thoughts, ranging from love to fear;
or thoughts of another day.
While walking; I approached an intersection;
with my mind, walking a different path;
suddenly I lose all my sense of direction;
incurring reality’s omniscent laugh.
That One in heaven, who is omniscient;
knew, my mind had wandered;
I had erred, to become self-sufficient;
such truth must not be squandered.
My mind cannot go, two places at once;
conflicting thoughts make me dizzy;
whenever it happens; I appear as a dunce;
and my soul is caught in a tizzy.
Faith is our constant connection to God;
His thoughts are never distractions;
we need be as close as two peas in a pod;
to avoid destiny’s cruel reactions.
We know the wages of distracted driving;
and forgetting what kingdom we’re in;
but, when, walking; we’re only surviving;
just hoping to start all over again.
