Diminished Purpose
Wisdom speaks to the essence of purpose;
purpose, alone, is found in perfection;
though the truth is found neath the surface;
many of us languish in self reflection.
Though we ascend the ladder of success;
we usually do it to assuage our guilt;
desperate to find our purpose; to address;
we can’t stand the heat; and wilt.
We look to others; to celebrate success;
defining success; being celebrity;
few of us consider a purpose, to address;
fame is our treasured destiny.
We think high living is the ultimate perk;
often wishing we could be them;
few respect those who do physical work;
thinking such work is beneath them.
The rich and famous become our gods;
it has been so; since our birth;
riches and purpose; are often at odds;
the meek shall inherit the earth.
Our true purpose is the will of the Master;
God will accept no substitute;
any purpose, with pride, leads to disaster;
leading to lives of ill repute;
Every purpose must have truth, and love;
perfection requires love’s service;
when created in the image of God, above;
anything less; is diminished purpose.
